The evening sun goes down behind St Just's Plain-an-Gwarry. Located in the centre of the village this "plain-an-gwarry" or playing place is a kind of mediæval amphitheatre. Whilst these were once common place, only one other now survives in Cornwall at Piran Round inPerranzabuloe.

Over the years the Plain-an-Gwarry has been used for all manner of activities from Cornish wrestling to the performance of plays.

In the foreground is St Just's War memorial clock tower which commemorates the local men lost in both world wars
