Compressor House - South Tincroft Mine

These fine old ruins are of the compressor house of what was South Tincroft mine. Set just across the mainline railway tracks from Pool this interesting old building was built in 1891 to house a steam-powered compressor which in turn powered the rock drills used at the face.

South Tincroft was one of the productive Carn Brea mines which mined the Great Flat Lode. It ceased operations in 1921.
