Looking back at Porthleven from the end of the pier. The building in the middle of the photo is the Institute, or the Bickford-Smith Institute to give it its full name.
Hard to imagine from this photo that in the winter storms waves were crashing over the Institute and 10 foot waves washing up the harbour.
