View of the structure of one of the 8 houses in the Chysauster settlement near Penzance. We are looking into the main courtyard here which was passibly used for keeping animals. Small chambers lead off from the main courtyards of each house which served as working and living areas. Chysauster dates back to the Romano-British period (1,500-2,000 years ago) and is of a type found only on the Land's End peninsula and the Isles of Scilly.
