The Charlotte Dymond memorial with Roughtor in the background. Located on the northern edge of Bodmin Moor this was the scene of a notorious murder in 1844.

Charlotte Dymond was a young servant girl murdered by Matthew Weeks, her boyfriend in a fit of rage when he found she was leaving him for another. Weeks was hung at Bodmin Gaol and this memorial was erected by public subscription to mark the tragic events.
