I spotted this peculiar little grub up on the moors the other day. I guessed it was a larva, but it took a while to get it identified properly.

Turns out it is the larva of the Bloody Nose Beetle Timarcha tenebricosa. The names comes from their ability to release a stinky red substance from their mouth when feeling threatened.
