The entirety of the tiny fishing village of Durgan on the Helford river is owned by the National Trust and coming here is like stepping back in time, with the distinct feeling of a Famous Five adventure just around the corner. Beautiful walks abound in this area, as do stunning gardens. Just above the hamlet, Glendurgan Gardens and neighbouring Trebah Gardens attract many visitors. The latter were created by James Fox over 170 years ago and have recently been restored to their former glory. Both boast sub-tropical gems and inspired landscaping.
