West Pentire/CrantockCrantock is the name given to the village and beach on the western side of the Gannel estuary, next to the resort of Newquay. Its sands and dunes are popular in the summer months. Porthjoke, or Polly Joke, is a more secluded beach nearby. Its main pub, the Old Albion, is housed in an attractive 400 year old thatched building.

St Carantocus church is built on land that has been considered holy since the 5th century, and displays an intricately carved wooden screen inside. At the back of the church, visitors can still see the village's stocks and a small cave on the beach contains carvings and verse attributed to a local artist of nearly a century ago.
