Brand-new cottage adjacent to the St Just Conservation Area, with sea view and on the lane down the National-Trust protected Cot Valley yet in 3-minutes walking distance of the centre of St Just and 8 minutes of the SW Coast Path.
Completed in Spring 2011, Crinnis has 3 bedrooms upstairs, one with a double bed and the others each with two single beds. So the cottage normally sleeps 6 but, using the sofa bed in the downstairs living room, it can sleep 8. There is an upstairs bathroom and a downstairs shower room. Downstairs is a living room with two sofas, TV/DVD, tables and a desk. The downstairs kitchen is fully-equipped and includes dishwasher, washing machine and tumble drier as well as a kitchen/dining table seating 8. There is a sea view from the living room and two of the bedrooms.
At the front of the cottage, looking out onto countryside, there is a small garden with a driveway with space for 2 cars. At the rear, the kitchen looks out onto a large paved courtyard/play-area surrounded by flower beds with a brick barbeque and a shed containing garden furniture.
The cottage has underfloor heating to both ground and first floor with individually-controllable thermostats in each room. The heating is a green air heat-pump system. The cottage has Wi-fi internet access.
St Just is an historic town with a long history of tin mining. In the town are a small supermarket, several shops and pubs serving food, a fish-and-chips shop and an ice-cream shop as well as cafes and galleries. Cot Valley, with its geologically interesting raised beach, and Cape Cornwall with views to the Isles of Scilly are both in easy walking distance. The SW Coastal Path is 8 minutes walk away and provides breathtaking walks to Sennen Cove, with its mile-long beach and surfing, and Lands End to the south and to Pendeen Lighthouse in the north past relics of the area’s mining history, the Levant Beam-Engine Museum and the Geevor Mine Museum.
Cape Cornwall Golf Club is less than a mile away and has an indoor swimming pool open to the public. Within 15 minutes drive is Porthcurno, with its stunning protected beach, and the Minack Open-Air Theatre carved out of the cliff.
For those who like walking to remote beaches try Portheras and Nanjizal whilst going inland there are many walks across fields and moorland. For the cyclist there are country lanes and tracks that can lead you to Carn Euny and Chysauster Ancient Settlements, Lanyon Quoit and the Merry Maidens Stone Circle and the remains of Chun Castle. A half-hourly bus service connects St Just to Penzance and in the Summer months there is an open-deck bus ride to Lands End and St Ives (take the front seats for a real thrill!).
Local markets at Pendeen (Saturday) and Sennen Village (Tuesday) give you the opportunity to buy local produce and art works. Worth visiting nearby are St Ives with its beaches, shops, Tate Gallery and Barbara Hepworth House, Penzance with its piracy connections and Marazion/St Michaels’ Mount which you can reach by boat or by walking on the causeway at low tide. From Penzance you can visit the Isles of Scilly by boat or helicopter.
