Gutting Fish - St Ives Harbour 1890

Gutting fish straight off the boats in St Ives harbour. This was a scene that had been the same for a hundred years before and didn't change much for another 50. The backdrop differs from that of today. The main reason is the absence of the Wharf Road along the harbour front and the accompanying wall. In those days the beach went right up to the buildings.
