The church of St Carantocus at Crantock dates back to 12th century although the site is older and much of the current church is more recent.

The wonderful rood screen is actually quite recent as the original was destroyed during the dissolution of the monasteries in the 16th century.

The current rood screen was erected in 1905 and consists of 5 sections. An interesting fact is the screen was carved by a woman; Mary Rashleigh Pinwell, the daughter of a Devon vicar.
