Bossiney is a sleepy hamlet set in a rugged and beautiful landscape on the outskirts of Tintagel. The area was settled in the Bronze Age and soon achieved elevated status as a garrison settlement.
By the sixth century Bossiney had it's own Motte and Bailey fortress, which is located opposite the Bossiney House Hotel.

By the sixteenth century the area was notorious for being a 'rotten borough', which sent two people to parliament in spite of their being only twelve people eligible to vote. One of these two was allegedly Sir Francis Drake, who made his inaugural speech from the top of Bossiney Mound.

Today Bossiney is famous not for it's dirty politics but for its wonderful views, fabulous cliff walks, great secluded beach and close proximity to the South West Coast Path and Tintagel Castle. There is a small campsite and a hotel with swimming pool and sauna overlooking the beach.
