Widemouth Bay is a very long open bay popular with families and surfers and at low tide there are hundreds of rock pools to explore. Widemouth Bay offers fantastic conditions to learn surfing or body-boarding, which is why many of the local surf schools are based there. It has also received the Blue Flag Beach Award 2017. Situated just 3 miles north of Widemouth Bay is the popular town of Bude, also accessible along the South West coast path, which offers some excellent walking routes, whether you enjoy a short stroll to a stunning picnic spot or prefer a more challenging hike. Bude is large enough to provide a good range of facilities with a choice of accommodation, shops, restaurants and sports facilities, yet it is small enough to retain its Cornish charm. The nightlife is also quiet and relaxed. The area has a laid back charm. There are many independently owned shops and restaurants to explore. As well as a diverse range of indoor and outdoor activities – from sports centres, soft play areas and stately homes to fishing, cycling, golf, tennis, surfing and other water sports.
