Costislost House is a Victorian Lodge, nestled in a tranquil, rural setting on the outskirts of the village of Washaway in North Cornwall, within easy reach of a number of renowned and interesting towns and villages. The Eden Project, great surfing beaches, the Lost Gardens, amongst many other attractions, are all within easy distance; and the Camel Trail can be walked to from the end of our lane.
Guest accommodation comprises of spacious luxury, boutique bedrooms with super-king, iron four poster beds, excellent luxurious mattresses, comfortable seating areas, elegant period features and stylish furnishings; all en-suite. All of our rooms have flat screen TV's, a selection of herbal and everyday teas, a cafetiere and ground coffee. In addition to the bedrooms a large guest lounge allows for comfortable relaxation at the end of the day, combined with a bit of socialising if you wish.
Outside we have a large lawn garden and a sun terrace that guests are welcome to use.
Breakfast, as much as we can, is local produce and/or organic; from the free range eggs and sausages of the neighbouring farm, to bacon from down the road, and bread by the renowned Cornish Baker Tom. Couple that with fresh orange juice, homemade jam, marmalade and even homemade Granola; and you will see why we pride ourselves on producing an excellent and healthy breakfast, even if you opt for the full English!
Set in one and half acres of rambling grounds, Costislost House guests can walk through the woods to the Camel Trail or to the nearby Pencarrow Estate with its 50 acres of gardens. Padstow, Wadebridge, Fowey, Port Isaac, Polzeath, Eden Project and Watergate Bay are all close by, and being Cornwall, the rest of it is all quite driveable as well.
If you are looking to get away from it all for a few days’ or for a week of relaxation, at Costislost House you will enjoy luxurious comfort, warm and friendly hospitality and plenty of space to unwind and relax. We like people to relax at Costislost House and are busy finishing our 'quiet room', which ideally will be used for yoga and meditation, amongst other things.
During the year we will be running various week and long weekend breaks, such as art weeks, yoga and wellbeing weeks, as well as our English, slightly less wellbeing!,country breaks in the spring and autumn. Half board, these will be for guests who want to go off and do some activity during the day (even if that is just reading a book!) then return for a good hearty social meal on our 4.5m long dining table ( à la ski chalet ). With an award winning in house Chef, expect some enjoyable food.
Occasionally we also offer an evening meal to our guests. Again in very much the chalet style, this is meant to be a good social evening with whatever the kitchen are cooking that day and, of course, a vegetarian option.
We are extremely dog friendly and we can often be found walking our lurcher dog around the grounds. However, we do have certain restrictions on some dog breeds, for the comfort of our other guests. Please note that we do not accept dogs without prior confirmation.
There are no child restrictions, families are welcomed and although we don't yet have joint rooms for families, we can easily put an extra bed up, if requested before arrival.
