"I feel compelled to contact you. Having built up a lot of expectation for my visit to the Seafood Restaurant, which a friend and I did on Saturday 29th September, we left a little bit disappointed. While the food itself was excellent, I feel that the staff could have done more. I ordered a large Dover sole and when it arrived I politely enquired to the waiter if it was large - it seemed rather small compared to many that I have eaten previously. He said that he would go and check with the chef; I am still waiting for him to advise me on this. There was no offer from him to fillet it at the table for me, something that I would have expected in such an establishment. If this is the norm, then so be it. Also, we were left to pour our own wines, although the waiters were happily pouring wines elsewhere. Again, something that your restaurant may choose to do, if so I apologise. As I mentioned earlier, food was excellent but I feel that the whole package lacked that little something.

I appreciate that your restaurant is very popular and busy but would have expected more.

I feel that although this did not spoil a good meal, it was not as I had anticipated.

Regards."

The Seafood Restaurant

9.30pm was a little later than we had hoped to dine, but this restaurant is determined to ensure that every table is occupied until closing time. Perhaps the best part of the meal was the deep fried gougoins of cod served as an amuse bouche. My fish and shellfish soup was good and plentiful but my partner's crab salad was miniscule, served with tasteless samphire and asparagus. In fact he said the best part of it was the sprinkling of excellent parmesan cheese. The quality of fish served in the main courses was excellent, but my sea bass was overwhelmed by the tastes of vanilla and herbs whereas my companion's Dover sole was swamped by a surfeit of butter.
For dessert we both chose the pavlova. This was very sweet and rather disappointing.
Service was good but we both felt that we could eat a far superior meal elsewhere in Cornwall at a far lower cost.
