I thought it would be just me that wasn't too impressed by this place, but by reading some of the reveiws i was just one of many!! First the good bits. Nice decor throughout and fantastic dyson hand drying machine in the toilet. That's got to tell you something if the highlight was the hand dryer!!
As for the food, well i left feeling hungry and i have a small appetite. My husband insisited on stopped for fish and chips on the way home!
I'm a veggie and used to not much choice, well, here you get NO choice so if you don't like a particular ingrediant you have to lump it. I waited 20 mins for my coke to arrive and then had to ask a waitor twice! The food was nothing special and one of the courses all the food is served on one plate, so my veggie meal was on the same plate as the 'salami' STRANGE!! I'm sure many veggies like me do not appreciate their food being served literally alongside meat.
My husband had the fish which was supposedly 'filleted' but contained loads of bones and the crab salad had shell in it. As for the cheese, well words couldn't describe the taste but his face said it all!!!
We won't be going again. In fact i'm just going to email the place direcly to complain.

Our experience at Fifteen, has to be up there near the top, maybe even at THE TOP as one of the best meals we've ever had. The cocktails fantastic - I HAVE to have the receipe for Apple and Vanilla mojito. The food was fantastic - NEVER before have I eaten in a restaurant and not had to add salt to my meal to make it perfect. The atmosphere fantastic - spot-on lighting, noise level, mix of people, furnishings. The staff fantastic - service efficient but not obtrusive, informative but not pretentious. And we didn't even get to see the view.

Jamie, as fellow creative people, who strive for, but have never obtain [so far], perfection we have been honoured to share a part of your success. THANK YOU.

What a let-down this place is. We arrived on a warm day and it was all ready getting very hot inside. They could not open any windows as they said the wind was blowing in the wrong direction! The food was just about ok but my halibut was over cooked and very dry and tasteless. The quantities were also soooo small, even for a high calibre restaurant that this is. The snack sized portions just aren't worth the money. We we're gutted and left feeling very sad at the experience.

Went for dinner on Sunday evening and only had the £50 a head tasting menu to choose from which we were not prepared for but not too bothered about. The menu had 2 mandatory courses and then 2 courses with 3 choices each and then a dessert course with 3 choices. The food was good not great. The crab linguine had pieces of shell in it and was quite tasteless. The turbot while nice was a very small portion. The gnocchi was ok and the lamb not bad. For 5 courses the portions were too small. We would of much perfered a tasting of all the menu and small portions of each. Cocktails were also average. Service was good and the location on the beach was excellent. Having eaten at a number of "celebrity chef" restaurants, Fifteen Cornwall would not be recommended to friends.

Fifteen Cornwall lunch

Went for lunch with friends and two babies & one toddler. Nice to be in restaurant with children & not feel awkward, high chairs, space for pushchairs, childrens menu. Downside was quality of food, just not as good as most Cornish restaurants of this style & price.Staff & service seemed ok but again not quite up to standard of restaurants they are competing with, a feeling that they were going though the motions with a close eye on the end of shift. This restaurants price policy & connections to celebrity create high expectations that they fail to deliver.Jamie put on a false beard and check them out .. it could be sorted with a tweak here & there !

We went to Fifteen in December '06 for lunch and came away extremely disappointed and hungry !
The experience started badly with the table not being ready - not a huge problem, but being left with a drinks menu but no way of ordering for 15 minutes was. Poor service then continued from our waitress and only on being served our main course did I get the drink that i had ordered when asking for it again.
The food was okay but that was all with a limited menu choice.
Stunning views and nice decor - apart from the throws!
Worst part of the day for me were the toliets or should I say toilet. There is only one toilet to be shared by gents, disabled and baby changing room and you have to stand in the restaraunt as if you are waiting to use a portaloo - disgusting, as was the state of the toilet.
Poor experience and I won't be going back.

Fifteen Cornwall - also disappointed

My brother and his wife went to fifteen for an evening meal for their anniversary. Most of the critisisms already listed were on show. Four of the six dishes had cheese on or in them? Tasteless risotto. An inedible main pork dish (sent back - just £7 knocked off a £50 per head bill?) As it was towards the end of service a cleaner in a boiler suit was mopping the floor while they were trying to finish their deserts - very unprofessional. Overall, overpriced and very disappointing.

went for a special birthday treat. went with high expectations, sadly not met! beautiful setting and stylish restaurant. we were greeted with the warmest welcome but that was the high point of the night. the service was painfully slow and the waitress was more than a little curt with us when after waiting to order wine for 20 mins they took our bottle away (to top up when needed you'd think) but it was to ration us i'm sure as we had to ask for it back every time! food was well, can't really remember but can't face any more cheese for a while. we don't eat meat and the fish was a bit thin on the ground and i don't think swordfish is very local! which left the hallibut hmmm... i guess if you need to know how good a venu is you should always ask a cabbie as on our way home he told us that everybody comes away a bit disappointed and at least £150 lighter. perhaps it was just an off night??

Went on 27 August for Sunday lunch. Location was stunning, fantastic views but service was unbelievably slow. We waited over 45 minutes for starters which did not need cooking. They were lovely but main courses were average. Drinks also expensive.

Ate hear 3 nights ago and was dissapointed. The service was awful - apart from the wine waiter. The lady that met us at the door spoke to us like we were about 12 and had never eaten out before (we are all in our early thirties) When we asked her about the menu options she could not answer us and told us to ask the waitress. We booked for 9.45 and were not seated till 10.30 even though the table we sat at was empty from when we walked in. Taster menu needs a few more choices as when I was ordering I told my waitress I did not like fish so she automatically put me down for the other choice which I also did not like!!! Customer service training is badly needed, coming from the hotel industry I know what customers are looking for. The food was delicious so full credit to the chefs.

I seem to be in the majority by saying the food lacks any body or soul. Dined there on 14th July expecting similar standard to London's 15 but was sorely dissapointed. The nibbles to start lacked any taste what so ever. I had slow roast pork which I assumed would be anything but dry. Big mistake. Huge lump of dried out meat. Very tough to finish. All of the party agreed they can do better themselves. A restaurant charging what Fifteen does can not survive serving such poor food. The ethos is admirable but when it comes to top restaurants they are not charity causes. Yes they are unemployed and learning but if they do not improve I think they will be again. Sorry. View was great but I could of sat on cliff woth bag of chips and enjoyed it more.

What a total disappointment. I've eaten in very nice restaurants in Cornwall that were half the price and twice as tasty.
The service was slow and the waitresses did not understand dietary requirements.
The portions were extremely small and tasteless, and we left hungry.
The decor was much like other restaurants and the view was limited to a few tables unlike Fistral Blue where the windows are so high everyone can see the sea.
It was cold and the toilets were dirty!

Having heard the hype about the restaurant I was looking forward to a top notch meal with service to match, unfortunately this was not to be. The food is good but there are other restaurants in Cornwall to match it, the service was the main let down here. Perhaps they are still finding their feet; let’s hope it doesn't take them much longer. The best thing about this restaurant is the selection of wines and the surroundings. Apart from that I don't believe it others any value for money.
