Have just read a review dated April 2006 for this recently refurbished and "change-of-ownership" bistro restaurant. The on-view kitchen now provides a modern British menu and the food is very definitely of a high standard, both for lunch and dinner. Staff are pleasant, decor is trendy but stylish and you will have a most pleasant experience there. We have been 4 times over the past 2 months, and enjoyed each one.

Admittedly this was a lunch for a large party of people, but I found it very disappointing. The garlic mushrooms were all right but reminiscent of something from around 30 years ago, along with chicken in the basket and scampi and chips. It was pub grub without an edge. The crumble was unsubtle but plentiful. Coffee was good. The venue is pleasant but not an ideal place for a large gathering where people want to circulate. At least it was fairly cheap.
