Longships Lighthouse at Sunset

The Longships Lighthouse sits around 1.25 miles off Land's End atop Carn Bras - the highest of the Longships rocks.

Standing at 115ft (35m) the granite lighthouse is the second to have been built here and dates back to 1875. Up until 1988 there would have been a lighthouse keeper stationed here and I remember seeing the helicopter fly supplies over, landing on the helipad. The fact there is a helipad here should give some idea of how violent the sea can be around these parts, especially given the lighthouse is only a 15 minute boat ride from Sennen Cove.

This photo was taken from Land's End with a fair wind blowing. The colours are all natural.
