Gig Racing on the Isles of Scilly. The two boats here are the Bonnet from the Newquay club and the Slippen from the St Mary's club. All of these boats are based on the "Treffry", built in 1838 and measure 32 feet (9.8 m) in length and just under 5 feet (1.6) in width. Many of the boats in use today date back to this period .
