Restormel Castle
Description:
The imposing entrance to Restormel Castle near Lostwithiel.
Originally it was a Norman wooden keep, moat and baileycastle built to guard the crossing of the nearby River Fowey.
The stone castle we see now was built in the 14th century possibly by Richard, Earl of Cornwall or maybe Robert, Count of Mortain
