Penzance Market House

Penzance Market House
Description:
Penzance's Market House, more commonly known as the Lloyd's Bank building.

The building was erected in 1838 after a competition to select an architect. The winners were a London based firm but the town council decided they couldn't afford them! In the end the building was designed by William Harris of Bristol.

It is this building with it's iconic giant portico, Tuscan columns and fine dome which stands today
