Zennor Quoit

Zennor Quoit
Description:
The collapsed, hulking form of Zennor Quoit on Amalveor Downs to the south of Zennor.

Originally the stones formed an enclosed burial chamber with the 12.5 ton capstone resting on top of the 5 upright stones.

However, in 1861 a local farmer took it upon himself to use the stone from the quoit to build himself a cow shed.
Had it not been for the intervention of the vicar (and subsequent payment) we probably wouldn't even have this.
