Well out of order!

Now long disused, this well near Gulval was once a source of simple amusement for some of my friends and me - we'd haul a bucketful of water to the top, then let go to send it plummeting back down. On one such occasion I wasn't quick enough in getting out of the way, & the handle caught me square in the eye; an impressive shiner duly developed. I suspect that was probably the last time I engaged in that particular pastime.
