Topic: Walking on Bodmin Moor w/o map

After a recent expedition to Bodmin Moor I have discovered the advantages of taking a map with me!

I was lulled into a false sense of security by finding the Trippett Stones first go and not having too much trouble finding the Stripple Stones thereafter, all without a map.

Anyway things took a turn for the worse after I decided to take my own circular route back from Hawks Tor. It took me 2 hours to get back to my car and it was going dark. At one point I could have just headed across a couple of fields and been back, but I thought better of that as past experience has taught me that is often the route to ending up stuck on barbed wire or knee deep in mud!

Now I have an OS map and GPS/compass on my phone. And yes, last time I went up there I used both
