Cornish Birds of Prey Centre

At the Cornish Birds of Prey Centre there are more than 50 birds of prey, in addition to many other birds. These include parrots, macaws, pheasants, kookaburras and lots of ducks. There are regular flying displays and various hands-on experiences, involving the birds. The Centre also incorporates facilities for coarse fishing, with more than three acres of well-stocked lakes. The Centre is set on open ground with a gentle slope and stunning views.

For anyone who fancies a whole day surrounded by birds of prey, it is possible to spending quality time getting to know the birds and learning about the art of falconry. This full day, working with the birds, begins at 10.00am with a tour of the centre, followed by a brief talk on the history of falconry and introductions to the various birds. Lunch and refreshments are provided throughout the day, and the centre caters for all ages and disabilities.

The excellent facilities include tea rooms, serving both hot meals and snacks throughout the day, with a gift area selling souvenirs of the visit. There is free parking and shaded shelters for dogs, which are not allowed in the actual centre. The Cornish Birds of Prey Centre is situated on the A39 at Winnards Perch, between St. Columb Major and Wadebridge and is open throughout the year.

Having read some of the above comments I wonder just what people expect! If you want a dedicated falconer whose knowledge of birds of prey is outstanding visit Cornish Birds of Prey. Get talking to Andy and find out about the birds and find out just why they can't fly in heavy mist or rain.... those that grumble haven't a clue just how vulnerable a bird of prey is in wet weather, they are not water birds! their feathers are not waterproof! Cornish Birds of Prey is one of the cleanest establishments and the care of the birds is second to none so shut up moaning and visit.

In June 2009 we arrived just in time for the advertised flying demo.
AFTER we had paid we were told the demo had been cancelled and that there would be a talk instead. We felt we had been conned. Avoid at all cost.

Visited in summer 2009 and had a thoughly enjoyable morning. Very good shows by an enthusiastic handler.

Whilst I would agree that you would probably only spend 2 to 3 hours at this attraction it is well worth a visit.
